Haretna Restaurant

The term haretna (our neighborhood) has been used daily in Damascus for hundreds of years.
Whether a Damascene still lives inside the walls of the Old City or in one of the newer quarters, he still uses the expression “that’s our neighborhood.” This was the inspiration for our name.
Haretna Restaurant is located in the heart of Old Damascus surrounded by traditional alleys, where thousands of tales have been told for generations.

At Haretna, where the ancient and the modern intertwine and tradition interlaces with novelty and originality, you will experience a marvelous time while tasting delicious oriental and European dishes and excellent beverages as you are surrounded by the glamorous past and the charming present.

Haretna has to be one of the most amazing restaurants in Damascus! Located by Bab Toma, Haretna is an old house that has been renevated into a stylish, hip, enjoyable place to sit and dine! The place is two stories, with an open roof that beautifully puts on display the evening stars. On occassion the roof will be closed ( Poor weather/rain), but seeing this happen is a show in itself! While sitting at Haretna on a warm summer night in July of 2007, out of no where came the rain! It was as if on cue several waitors stopped whatever they were doing and pulled the tarp over our heads in almost a dance routine like manner. Their cusine is delicious, very affordable, and they offer a varitey of meal options. This place is great to go to with a loved one, a group of friends, or the entire family! The restaurant is usually open until 2am, but stops taking orders at around 1am. The decore is to die for, everyone who visits Damascus MUST see this beautiful restaurant!
